  Below is our anticipated schedule of activities. The group will have limited access to internet over the course of the program. While we understand families are eager for news, we ask for patience as our staff’s energy is focused on the students and the program at hand. Please do not call our office regarding these blogs, as the office does not control the postings or the content of the updates. Thanks very much for your understanding!

Day 1 (June 15) – Fly day; Welcome and orientation session

Day 2 to 3 (June 16 to 17) – Community service orientation and projects with a local public school (playground and art/education project); Visit to Juan Sanchez indigenous site; Video (Voces Inocentes) and discussion groups

Day 4 (June 18) – Community service day in La Carpio (upgrading homes for local families)

Day 5 (June 19) – Community service day at “La Finca” (planting, maintenance, and construction); Doka coffee plantation tour

Day 6 to 7 (June 20 to 21) – Departure for the Atlantic coast; Visit and service work (planting and painting projects) with the Amubri and Cabecar Indigenous Reserves

Day 8 to 9 (June 22 to 23) – Rio Tropicales whitewater rafting and zip-lining trip; Return to Central Valley

Day 10 (June 24) – Complete community service project with the local public school

Day 11 to 13 (June 25 to 27) – Complete La Carpio projects, upgrading local homes; Local market visit

Day 14 (June 28) – Lifeworks students host La Carpio kids at “La Finca” (arts/crafts/environmental education projects)

Day 15 (June 29) – Departure for the Pacific Coast; Wildlife viewing, swimming and rainforest visit

Day 16 (June 30) – Community service at Forjando Alas construction/kid project; Afternoon hike to waterfall and ocean swim

Day 17 (July 1) – Return to Central Valley; Student planning/preparation for La Carpio kids fair/camp day (arts/crafts festival)

Day 18 (July 2) – La Carpio fair/camp day (arts, crafts, painting, celebration, etc.); Final activities with homestay families

Day 19 to 20 (July 3 to 4) – Poas volcano and hot springs visit; Horseback riding; Lifeworks closing program

Day 21 (July 5) – Fly day
