Location: Savanna Bay, Virgin Gorda
Today was epic!! We all woke up pretty early so that we could get to Virgin Gorda and start the day’s activities. I was in charge of driving the boat to Virgin Gorda, which was super cool because it’s my favorite island! When we got to the island we took a taxi to the Copper mine ruins, which was an old mine shaft several hundred years ago! We all went down to the rocks near the water that surrounded the ruins. Jacob and Dahrius were pretty adventurous and they climbed rocks that were closer to the water. We spent a good amount of time just staring at the waves that hit the rocks, a pretty awesome sight. Then Elliot led us in picking up trash around the ruins and down at the neighboring beach near the ruins. Cora, Adam, Alli and Sam went down into bushes to pick up water bottles or other pieces of trash that they saw which was awesome. After picking up trash and learning about the seven different types of plastic, we all went to the Mine Shaft for lunch, and all of the guys played on the mini-golf course that they had. We then got back on the boat drove over to the Baths. The Baths were amazing! They had so many cool rock formations and some of the rocks we could jump off of! It was so much fun just walking around in the caves and jumping off of the rocks. Lydia, Ally and Cecelia had some cool poses while jumping off. “Beezie” had the Go-Pro and was taking pictures the whole time, which was awesome! We then explored and came out at an open waterway called Devil’s Bay. We had some chicken fights and we swam around and hung out in the crystal clear water. After that, we hopped back on the boat and sailed over to Savannah Bay. David helped me out with all the turning and made sure I was steering the boat in the right direction. After that we took some saltwater showers which are still kind of new but fun! Thomas and Jack did pull-ups off the boat which was cool, and after we were all dry some of us listened to Jules speaking French, it was so cool! Then we had dinner made by Alli, Lydia and Elliot; they are really good cooks! We had Penne Alfredo with steamed vegetables, it was so good! Today was so much fun and I can’t wait for tomorrow!
