This morning we woke up at 7:30 and then after a delicious breakfast we got ready for the day and head off to Gail’s office. There we waited on the bus while Meca and Enrico went up to drop off the pizza from last night. A little while later, we see many kids running towards the bus. At first, they seemed a little nervous, but once we got to know them a little more, everything seemed fine. I personally could not speak Spanish, so it was a little awkward communicating with my buddy. However, we played rock paper scissors, which made the bus ride end quickly. When we arrived at the museum, the kids were extremely excited, there were so much to see, and so much to do that we quickly ran out of time before we could tour the whole museum. When the trip was over, everyone got on the bus, and then we headed off to a restaurant by a church. The kids were dropped off back at Gail’s office to be picked up at 12:00, while we finished our filling lunch. Before leaving, we took an interest in some red ants carrying leaves and soon after we left for the worksite. When we arrived, the house was looking better already, we could clearly see our progress, but there were still much to be done. We finished the frame, and then finally completed the wall after many… many… difficulties. Some of us were better at nailing and sawing than others, but we all worked together to complete the job quickly and efficiently. When it was time to leave, we were all very upset. However, we saw how much we had done and how these peoples lives were changes, so it was very satisfying and felt super accomplishing. When we arrived back at the hotel, we were all feeling gross and sweaty, so we decided to go for a swim. When we returned to our rooms, we had a bit of a shower dilemma, but the situation was quickly resolved. For dinner, we ordered food, some people had hamburgers, and others had chicken and fries; followed by our nightly “sesh.” After dinner, we had a 30 minute “me time,” which was a quiet time that allowed us to reflect and write in our journals.
