Location: Dharamsala
Today we first experienced Dharmasala and the monastery we are living in. We woke early and got to enjoy the Tibetan monks chants and their regal temple. The strength of their chanting was very overwhelming. We followed the visit with breakfast; then walked 300 steps to Dharmasala. Walking to Lha, we were approached by crowds of Indian beggars and salesman. It was interesting to see the intense poverty and experience the dirty city. It is very foreign to what we are used to in America. We then attend an orientation, which was showing us the work we would be doing. Afterward, we gathered for a short documentary to understand the history of Tibetan Buddhism before we go out and begin service. Due to jet lag, we went to sleep early.
