Location: Ollantaytambo

Today we said our final goodbyes to our beloved town of Ollantaytambo, a lovely place we spent ten days in. Unfortunately, 75% of the Footsteps crew had to stay back from our final service and adventure activity, whitewater rafting + river cleanup, with various illnesses. So those who remained healthy joined the Sacred Valley Service crew for an exciting whitewater rafting experience! Not only did we have fun rushing down rapids, getting wet by occasional splashes, we also enjoyed panoramic views of snow-capped mountains and the serenity of this town from the river. This experience was made very unique because we contributed to cleaning up the riverside on our rafting journey. We picked up empty bottles, plastic buried in soil, and all kinds of trash. It was very rewarding to see bags of trash that we collected at the end of our rafting trip. Being physically drained after two hours of using muscles we weren’t completely used to using in the way were had to for paddling the raft, we made quick work of our lunch and headed to Cuzco. A series of unexpected events unfolded very quickly, our original celebration dinner plan was canceled, but we ended up having a very hearty meal at our hotel restaurant and concluded the day with a game of pool and general camaraderie.
