Location: Savanna Bay, Virgin Gorda
We started off the day and sat on the trampoline watching the sunrise. I woke up the cooks, Halle and Jackson, and they began to boil us some water for oatmeal and cut up some fruit. From there, we ate breakfast on the front porch and began our day.
We got dressed for the day, and we started off by picking up trash on the beach. We took the dingy over to Savanna Bay and saw the prettiest water. There was no trash at all on the beach; however, when we walked over to the windward side of the beach, there was an incredible amount of trash everywhere. We walked up a little bit of a hill and found a tarp and so much more plastic. It felt really good to be able to help the ocean and the wildlife around.
We swam in the bay a little bit before we went back to the boat. We saw a ton of lemon sharks! Our boat LOVES to get in the water as much as we can. Once we finally got back to the boat, we started our sail to the Baths. Sailing is so nice and relaxing, and I’m hoping to learn more about how to sail. I moored today, which was where you attach a mooring ball to a rope on the boat so it can hold.
Once we got to the baths, we could either go to the cliff jumping area, or we could head over to the beach to relax more. Most of us went over to the cliffs. This was a hike. Climbing all over rocks that were covered in moss and algae and slipping everywhere. However, the cliffs were really cool and were so fun to jump off of. Once we were done at the Baths, we headed back to the boat and swam around for a bit. We all jumped off of the dingy, and some of us tried flips. I am trying to learn how to do a backflip. It was going well yesterday but not so good today.
After our swims, we showered outside, which includes jumping in and out of the ocean with your shampoo, conditioner, and body wash on and then taking a 10-second freshwater shower.
For the rest of the night, we had dinner and mostly just hung out and talked with each other. I have not slept in the cabin once yet, and I am sleeping in a hammock tonight on the front porch.
I miss you, Mom, Dad, Paige and Forbes, and Murray!
