Location: West End, Tortola

The day we have all been waiting for has finally arrived! Day 1 of our first session of the summer is here. This year, more than ever, our staff is ready to be a helping hand and bring positive change to a place, so many of us hold dear. We have been working hard to make sure everything is set to go for when students get here today! Elliot, Alisa, and Hannah are thrilled for the trip to begin and for us to set sail tomorrow. Over the next 21 days, the students will participate in sailing, meaningful community service projects, turtle tagging, interacting with local children, other marine science activities, and tons of bonding! Two Ghosts- our home for the next few weeks- has been stuffed to the gills with food, water, and fuel in preparation for our students’ arrival. This session is sure to be packed with life-changing experiences. Hop aboard and follow along with our expedition updates here!

ELLIOT EVINS-

PROGRAM MANAGER & ENROLLMENT ADVISOR

Growing up in several contrasting parts of the United States, Elliot developed an appetite for travel and exploration at a young age. He fostered a passion for global service and socially responsible volunteering as a student with Global Expeditions Group during high school and university. This eventually brought him to a position leading programs in the same countries he originally experienced as a student. Elliot holds professional certifications in sailing, field research, and wilderness medicine that allow him to provide his students with the same incredible experience and lessons our programs gave him. When not running summer programs in the BVI, China, Thailand, India, Costa Rica or Ecuador, Elliot works in the Sarasota, Florida GXG headquarters and spends his weekends sailing, producing music, or bumbling his way through ambitious do-it-yourself projects.

ALISA MOODY

Alisa was raised in Florida and has never been far from the water. She was a competitive swimmer for nine years and has been diving since she was sixteen. Her passion for scuba and the undersea world has only increased over the years. Alisa studied ecotourism in college and became a PADI scuba instructor in 2014. She has spent the last four years traveling and teaching scuba but most recently spent time in New Jersey working as a swim coach and teaching kindergarten. She enjoys being outside as much as possible whether it’s hiking, swimming, or diving, and has a huge passion for experiential education. This is her fourth year working with the Global Expedition family, and she is more than excited to continue this adventure!

HANNAH SCIARAPPA

This will be Hannah’s second summer with GoBeyond in the BVI. She is from Atlanta, Georgia and currently lives on Catalina Island off the coast of Southern California teaching marine science to middle and high school students. She enjoys ‘nerding out’ in nature, body surfing, hiking, snorkeling, and SCUBA diving. She has a B.S. in Biology from Georgia Southern University, is a certified lifeguard and a Master Diver through NAUI. She is stoked to be back this summer!
