Location: Beijing

Today was an incredible day at the Dew Drops facility in Beijing. We spent the morning getting to know the children better by playing games, coloring and reading together. One little girl was especially interested in my hair, which was funny to see since she too had a big head of hair. Spending time with the children day after day has given us a great chance to make a difference in the lives of these children, and we are already excited to see them again when we return from Baotou in a few days.

The other significant part about today was visiting the Summer Palace. The Summer Palace was built around a manmade lake in the middle of Beijing and is known to be a spot where many of China’s emperors would go to escape the summer heat. Seeing the gardens and walking through the historic buildings was a cool way to see what life was like during the time of China’s emperors. Overall, it was a great day, but the best part of the day was getting ice cream after finishing the long walk around the lake. Next stop, Baotou!
