Our second week of the service projects has started. We met our learning partners like last week at 9:30 am at Lha. My partner and I went to the waterfall near Dharamsala. It was a 30-minute walk until we got there. Even though it is monsoon season, it did not rain at all this morning. The sun was shining, and it was a nice view from the top of the waterfall down to the village. My partner and I were not the only ones walking to the waterfall: Ali, Ellie, Sarah, Xavier and Maya, and their mutual learning partners joined us. As it was quite hot walking up all those stairs, we needed something to cool us down. So we went to a cafe nearby. At twelve o’clock we all had to be back at the Common Ground Cafe.
Another exciting event today was our lunch. We had our second Tibetan dish: Thenthuk is a noodle dish, a kind of soup with vegetables and meat in it. It is delicious, and we all enjoyed it!
After lunch, we went to the TCV again. Today Sarah and I tried to focus on English a bit more. So we started with the game “Simon says…”. After that, we gave them words with which they had to make sentences. They liked the games, and some of them spoke up for the first time. It was nice for Sarah and me to see the progress the kids have made.
We took the taxi back to Common Ground Cafe. There we split into two groups. Half of us went shopping, and the other half wanted to make chupas (the traditional dresses). Unfortunately, the shop where we wanted to make them was closed, we’ll try again tomorrow.
