Below is our anticipated schedule of activities. On days marked with a *, the group will have limited access to phone and internet. While we understand families are eager for news, we ask for patience as our staff’s energy is focused on the students and the program at hand. Please do not call our office regarding these blogs, as the office does not control the postings or the content of the updates. Thanks very much for your understanding!
Day 1 (July 14) – Fly day; Welcome and orientation session
Day 2 (July 15) – Morning group building activities at Parque Itchimbia; Afternoon tour of Quito historical district
Day 3 to 7 (July 16 to 20) – Excursion into the Amazon rainforest; Activities including wildlife viewing, nature study, indigenous demonstrations and cultural activities, and community service work with the Sumak Allpa organization
Day 8 (July 21) – Departure from the Amazon; Student rest, downtime, and packing for the Galapagos
Day 9 (July 22) – Flight to the Galapagos; Puerto Ayora city tour
Day 10 to 15 (July 23 to 28) – Community service projects with the Galapagos National Park Service; Day tours of the islands and wildlife viewing
Day 16 (July 29) – Morning flight to Quito; Afternoon scenic drive into the rural Andes Mountains
Day 17 to 19 (July 30 to Aug 1) – Excursion into the rural Andes Mountains (near Chugchilan); Activities include the beautiful Quilotoa crater, hiking, horseback riding, zip-lining, a traditional market visit, and local community service work
Day 20 (Aug 2) – Return to Quito; Lifeworks/ActionQuest closing program
Day 21 (Aug 3) – Students depart for home
