Welcome to the GoBeyond China, Session 2 trip logs! Below is a little bit about the staff that will be leading this summer. Enjoy!

SHAUN SWARTZ – Shaun’s passions for adventure and exploration were sparked at a young age through frequent camping trips in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains and surfing trips in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Through a variety of jobs in the realms of education, marine science, and adventure guiding, Shaun has sought to broaden not only his own horizons but also the horizons of his students through immersive and experiential education. Currently, Shaun aims to inspire environmental awareness, conservation, and stewardship in the marine ecosystem by combining his interests in photography, journalism, and media.

KEELEY RIDEOUT – Born in rural Washington, Keeley grew up raising llamas and exploring the Pacific Northwest. Her favorite things to do include skiing, backpacking, sailing, diving, writing, sampling exotic fruits, and traveling the world. She is passionate about creating meaningful relationships, sharing quality jokes and spending time outside. She studied Geography at the University of Colorado Boulder and cameos as a research scientist in the fields of hydrology, cartography and marine science. Her fascination with culture and language has driven her to live/work abroad in places like Switzerland, Bhutan, and Bermuda.

LIU JINGTAO (RUTH) – Ruth is from northern China. After graduating from university, she joined an English study group, then worked for porcelain-ware and grain export companies. In 2012, Ruth started working with Brent Johnson in Beijing, helping coordinate various aspects of Little Flower and their work with orphans. She enjoys her work and the culture of the organization and looks forward to hosting this summer’s GoBeyond students in China.
