Welcome to the GoBeyond Iceland volunteer vacation trip logs! Below is a little bit about the staff that will be leading this summer’s volunteer travel program in Iceland. Enjoy!
KEELEY RIDEOUT – Born in rural Washington, Keeley grew up raising llamas and exploring the Pacific Northwest. Her favorite things to do include skiing, backpacking, sailing, diving, writing, sampling exotic fruits, and traveling the world. She is passionate about creating meaningful relationships, sharing quality jokes, and spending time outside. She studied Geography at the University of Colorado Boulder and cameos as a research scientist in the fields of hydrology, cartography, and marine science. Her fascination with culture and language has driven her to live/work abroad in places like Switzerland, Bhutan, and Bermuda.
BEN GREINER – Ben grew up in a small town in Colorado, where he came to love outdoor adventures like whitewater rafting, backpacking, and rock climbing. He began traveling to far-flung parts of the globe with his family from a young age, and now seeks out the challenge and learning that come with visiting hard-to-reach places and immersing himself in different cultures. Ben has two degrees in civil engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder, which he has combined with his passion for travel to work on community development projects in Peru, Nicaragua, and Rwanda. He has also worked for five seasons as a river guide and multi-day trip leader on the Arkansas River in Colorado. Ben sees traveling and outdoor adventure as opportunities to create meaningful relationships with other people and to learn about the world. In his free time, he enjoys rock climbing, trail running, backpacking, discovering new podcasts, reading interesting books, and drinking good coffee.
