Location: Datong, China
After a five hour bus ride from Beijing, we finally arrived in Datong. We ate lunch at a Chinese restaurant we found and then visited the Buddhist caves. It was so beautiful! Despite the age of the caves, the color on some of the carvings remains today. The scenery was very peaceful and some of us went swimming in the waterfalls. On the way back to our bus, we walked through a beautiful garden. Later, we checked into our hotel, which was very nice. They had real showers as well as western toilets. Also, the hotel had one English channel of TV. For dinner, we walked to a buffet restaurant. The food was really yummy, and there were a lot of options in the buffet. The restaurant served Chinese and Western cuisine. For dessert, the restaurant provided home-made ice-cream, which everyone loved. After dinner we walked back to our hotel and fell asleep shortly after from a long day of travel as well as touring the caves.
