Today was our last day with our learning partners. It was pretty sad, but we went back to Common Ground Cafe (our local meeting place) and had a little party. It was so sweet; Lha gave us each a traditional white Tibetan scarf that symbolizes friendship and good luck. They also gave us this scroll that says we were volunteers with them. We also got to eat a delicious buffet lunch with them, yay!
After lunch, we took taxis to a TCV (Tibetan Children’s Village) school, and the principal gave us a tour of the grounds. It was a pretty big campus because the students live there. We also went to a tea garden, which was cool to see. Once we got back to Mcleod and had dinner, we went home, and some of us decided to do henna on each other.
One of our favorite things to do as a group is play cards, and I think it helps us to just let off some steam. Sometimes volunteering can be a bit intense and heavy with emotion, so at night we usually like to hang out and play cards. Tonight we did henna and painted each other’s nails. Not the boys. Haha!
