Location: San Cristobal, Galapagos

Sometimes there are days in life you just won’t forget and today was certainly one of those, today we started our community service. Beach cleanup was the name of the game, working closely with the locals and the Armada del Ecuador, we started clearing the beaches. The experience was one of the most amazing ever, communicating with the locals (with our less than impressive Spanish skills), learning about the local culture, cracking open coconuts and meeting fellow foreigners, we did it all. This sense of community continued, whether we were in town or at the hostel, it’s as if we’ve known each other for years. But, this day not only consisted of community service, but one of our own’s birthday, Ginny. Among the festivities, there was a cake, a pinata, and some overdoses of sugar, but all in all, the festivities were a great end to the day. This was a day that none of us will forget and a day no pictures can describe and this is only the beginning. Signing out, Commander in Chief.
