We started today by driving up a windy mountain road where we were greeted with music, dancing, and were dressed in traditional clothes to help us feel welcomed into their family. We were the first volunteers to visit this village! A welcoming in their native language, Quechua, showed how happy they were to have us in the community. We then started to dance with the children and adults while wearing traditional clothing. After that, they taught us about textiles and served us traditional food. We then handed out donations after sorting them based on size, age, and other factors. Later on, we admired their weaving and bought a few items. Some of the textiles (for example, a table cover) took months to create as they were all done by hand. They then gave us a heartfelt goodbye as we headed back down the winding road. What an incredible day!
