Location: The Andes to Quito

In the early hours of the morning, most of us rose out of our warm beds to watch the sunrise. We bundled up in blankets and jackets, and all sat together, waiting for the sun to break through the clouds. After a yummy breakfast in the warm dining room, we all reluctantly trudged back to our rooms to pack for the 4-hour bus ride back to Quito. After packing, we all lined up for the zip line. One by one, we were secured by a belt and nudged for a kick start down the zip line. It was the perfect way to end our stay in the Andes, watching the mountains and trees rush by you as you made your way down to the ground. After loading up on the bus, we all slept and ate the whole 4 hours, stopping once for a bathroom and snack stop. Most of us bought ice cream and devoured it within minutes! We found ourselves asking “Are we there yet?” quite often during the drive down the mountain. When we arrived in Quito, we quickly rushed to our rooms to pack for our flight to the Galapagos Islands the following morning. Everyone was buzzing with excitement and anticipation. Knowing that we’re all a few short hours away from snorkeling with sea lions, exploring the islands, going on a boat tour and working together on another service project, has everyone pumped for the upcoming adventures. After a delicious dinner of burgers and grilled cheese (which reminded us of home), we all retreated to our rooms for a good nights rest.
