The Crew of Luna Kahuna has been so excited to welcome our students! We have been busy prepping the boat, cleaning and stocking it with food in anticipation for their arrival today. Emma, Will, and I cannot wait to embark on the adventure that lies ahead with all of our new students, Over the next 16 days, they will participate in sailing, meaningful community service, turtle tagging, and many more fun activities. After all the student arrived on board, we had a delicious meal of tortellini and went over the intro to living aboard a catamaran, which will be our home for the next 16 days. We are so excited for the adventure that lies ahead!

(Skipper) Emmanuelle grew up in Vermont, but since sailing as a student with Seamester and working on S/Y Ocean Star through the subsequent interim period, Emma now finds herself unable to stay off the water. Â Her professional qualifications include RYA/MCA Yachtmaster (Offshore), PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and Wilderness First Responder, and she has most recently been working on private yachts throughout the Greater Antilles and Bahamas. During her experience as a Lifeworks Ecuador leader in 2015, she enjoyed sharing a journey of exploration and development with her students. When land-bound, Emma takes every opportunity to enjoy the thrill of outdoor sports – from hiking to kayaking, to mountain biking – and is an avid equestrian.
(Mate) Lawre, from North Carolina, is so excited for a summer working with Lifeworks. Lawre began sailing at a young age with her grandmother aboard small boats but took to the sport after a 90-day trip with Seamester aboard the S/Y Argo. Since then she has worked on charter catamarans, Seamester’s S/Y Ocean Star, and sailed 4-20’s for her college sailing team. Lawre is a current student at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where she studies international studies and plays on the Field Hockey team. When she is not sailing or in School can be found surfing or at the beach.
(Mate) Will is very eager for summer with Lifeworks. Will is also a Seamester Alum after taking an 80-day journey with S/Y Ocean star. Since then he’s worked on boats for Action Quest and loves being at sea. He’s excited to push students to go beyond their comfort zones and learn from this experience. During his time away from summer in the BVI, Will is finishing a degree in Film at Syracuse University and enjoys playing Ice Hockey and doing various performing arts.
