Location: La Carpio
We started the morning off with a pleasant game of soccer from 8:30-9:30 in the morning. After that, we went to La Carpio. Today was a unique day because all of our activities included the children. We had some of the kids help us paint a house, color in coloring books, and played outdoor games like soccer and Frisbee. After lunch, we headed to the market in downtown San Jose, Costa Rica’s capital, and bought fun tourist souvenirs. Then we went to try a traditional Costa Rican treat, I didn’t catch the name of it, but it consisted of a slushy on the bottom, powdered milk, and ice cream on top. Then at night, we met at our counselor’s home stay to have our forum. We discussed the meaning and purpose of community service and service learning.
