Location: Great Harbor, Jost van Dyke

We woke up bright and early to the great sound of Zac Brown Band (though not everyone enjoyed it), and I was immediately full of energy. It was an action-packed day filled with lots of swimming and interacting with marine life. After breakfast, we traveled to Great Harbor and began turtling around the bay. While no turtles were caught, I spotted many other cool creatures like sharks and a giant spotted eagle ray. After a couple of hours, we then headed over to Foxy’s Tabu and monitored some seagrass. We split up into three groups and collected data from quadrats laid out along transects. After that, we made our way to the barbecue at Sydney’s Peace and Love. Even though the day was long and strenuous (and I’ve lost feeling in my legs from all the swimming), it was extremely fulfilling, and I can’t wait to see what the next day brings.
