Location: Great Harbor, Jost van Dyke
We woke up bright and early and motored over to Foxy’s on Jost Van Dyke. We had a brief meeting to prepare us for the taxing day we had ahead of us. Today we had more than 20 kids from the Jost Van Dyke Preservation Society summer camp come onto our boats and spend the day with us. After dinghying over to shore, we met with all of the kids and buddied up to go play some ice breaker games. Our buddy for the day was completely our responsibility, and we couldn’t let them out of our sight. As soon as the kids got onto to the boat, they immediately started running around the cabins and jumping on everything they could see. Some of the kids tried to hide in the cabinets on the floor, and some were climbing on the walls and roof. As soon as we started sailing, the kids got so excited. We all talked about so many things from movies to their life in the BVI. Then we got to Great Tobago, or as the kids called it, Great Tomato island. On the island, we took all the kids swimming and snorkeling. Some of the kids played football or volleyball, and some of them were snorkeling through the water, getting super excited about the fish in the water. When we got done snorkeling, we all headed back to the boats for a super peaceful sail back with the kids (who were finally all tired out). After dropping them back off at Foxy’s, we got an hour of shore time to hang around and get some souvenirs. We leave in less than a week, and it’s crazy how fast it’s gone by — and how much I don’t want it to be over.
