Below is our anticipated schedule of activities. The group will have limited access to the internet over the course of the program. While we understand families are eager for news, we ask for patience as our staff’s energy is focused on the students and the program at hand. Day 1 (July 7) – Students depart from hub airport (Los Angeles LAX) in the U.S.
Day 2 (July 8) – Fly day (note the time difference of +14 hours to EST)
Day 3 (July 9) – Student arrival day in Sydney (G’day, Mates!); Morning orientation; Time to call home and rest from flight; Bondi Beach exploration; Afternoon surfing lessons; Dinner & ice-breaker activities – Accommodation at Bondi YHA Beachhouse Hostel
Day 4 (July 10) – Sydney Opera House tour; Sydney exploration – Accommodation at Bondi YHA Beachhouse Hostel
Day 5 (July 11) – Full day Blue Mountains Tour with Coast Warriors – Accommodation at Bondi YHA Beachhouse Hostel
Day 6 (July 12) – Internal flight transfer to Proserpine; Transfer to sailing charter aboard S/V Eureka II – Accommodation on Eureka II
Day 7 to 9 (July 13 to 15) – Sailing charter in the Whitsunday Islands aboard S/V Eureka II!
Day 10 (July 16) – Transfer Airlie to Townsville; Afternoon ReefHQ visit and Aquarium exploration; Opportunity to do laundry; Accommodation at Civic Guest House
Day 11 (July 17) – Townsville exploration; AM Billabong Wildlife Sanctuary; PM Castle Hill Lookout; Waterpark visit in public park if time allows; Dinner and movie at accommodations – Accommodation at Civic Guest House
Day 12 (July 18) – Transfer Townsville to Kuranda; Kuranda Rainforest exploration – Accommodation at Kuranda Rainforest Accommodation Park
Day 13 to 14 (July 19 to 20) – Community service with Kuranda Envirocare – Accommodation at Kuranda Rainforest Accommodation Park
Day 15 (July 21) – Transfer Kuranda to Cairns; Possible rugby game at Peterson Park – Accommodation at Motel Nomad
Day 16 (July 22) – Diving charter on the Great Barrier Reef with ProDive – Accommodation on Prodive Boat
Day 17 (July 23) – Diving charter on the Great Barrier Reef with ProDive – Accommodation on Prodive Boat
Day 18 (July 24) – Conclude diving charter on the Great Barrier Reef with ProDive – Accommodation at Motel Nomad
Day 19 (July 25) – Tjapukai Aboriginal Park visit; Shopping in Cairns night markets; Evening with ReefTeach Environmental Education Center – Accommodation at Motel Nomad
Day 20 (July 26) – Whitewater rafting with Raging Thunder Raft Company; Final dinner and closing activities – Accommodation at Motel Nomad
Day 21 (July 27) – Students depart for home
