Welcome to the GoBeyond Australia trip logs! Below is a little bit about the staff that will be leading this summer. Enjoy!
JAMES PURCELL – After graduating university with degrees in International Business and Spanish, James spent the next couple of years volunteering and exploring his way through South and Central America. His experiences during that time strengthened his passion for travel, languages and intercultural exchange and developed interests that led him to work in fields as diverse as international education, urban agriculture, video production, and the medical field. In 2015, James returned to school and earned his nursing degree and loves his new career working in an emergency department. He also recently obtained his EMT certification and has interests in wilderness medicine and flight nursing. James resides in New Orleans with his wife and adorable puppy Rémy and spends his free time listening to and making music, producing videos, traveling, finding reasons to be outside and exploring the cultural, musical and culinary richness of New Orleans. He has guided trips with GoBeyond in Peru, Ecuador & the Galapagos, Costa Rica, India, and Australia and looks forward to another successful summer adventure with GoBeyond.
GUO PINGTING (RAIN) – Traveling has been a constant part of Rain’s life for the past decade. From the windy magnificent glaciers of Iceland, the tropical jungles teeming with wildlife of Panama to the stunning dry deserts of Mongolia, from sea to land journeys, every adventure helps Rain see the world in a different perspective. Outdoor education is what Rain is passionate about. Getting students out of their comfort zones, self-discoveries through experiential learning, and just being in nature should be essential for any students in shaping them into our future leaders of the world. Whenever Rain has a chance, she loves exploring places through hikes, bicycle/kayaking trips and jumps on any chance to windsurf and surf.
