Location: Sandy Spit, Green Cay
Hi, my name is Sophia, and I was the skipper for today. We started off the day with a late wake-up at 7:30 and breakfast, which was oatmeal, cereal, and cantaloupe made by the chefs Nate and Melina. Right after breakfast, we prepared for a long 3-hour ride to Sandy Spit. Today was the first day we sailed, which made the 3-hour ride a bit less boring. Rory was at the helm with Chris for the entire time. When we arrived, our chefs prepared lunch, which was Deli sandwiches, giving us the energy to search for turtles. Though we did not catch any, Melina and Stella saw a juvenile one and attempted to catch it but were unsuccessful. I also briefly saw one, but it swam away too fast for me to get close. We then took a break from the water, but shortly after, a few people wanted to go to an island close to our boat, while the few who stayed on the boat took advantage of the quiet and rested. Then, it was time for dinner, where we had a taco night crafted by our chefs, Nate and Nicole. It was one of the best meals of the trip so far. Today was really fun but tiring, so I’m excited to sleep tonight.
