Location: La Carpio

Today started with breakfast of croissants, scrambled eggs, cinnamon rolls, and rice at the hotel at 8:00 am. Then we left for La Carpio and we learned about a little boy named Michael and the story of his father. This helped us see how much the people of La Carpio struggle. Next, we went to help build part of a wall of a person’s house. We made cement using sand, water, and rocks, and it took a lot more effort than we thought it would. We then had lunch at the Humanitarian Center. We had mashed potatoes, mac n’ cheese, rice, and watermelon. After, we went to the tropical hills where we learned about the indigenous culture of Costa Rica. While there, we learned about daily life, and we even had to the opportunity to try freshly squeezed sugar cane. During our tour, it started to downpour, but that didn’t stop us from learning archery. When we got back to the hotel, we had rest time until dinner at 6:30. Dinner consisted of pasta, garlic bread, and strawberry parfaits. Now we are resting in our rooms before our next exciting days!
