Location: Sommer's Beach, Tortola
Another lovely day in the BVI! This morning we slept in until almost 8:00 am. Ewak followed Anamacara to Lee Bay, Tortola. Sadly, Dallas Blonde had left early this morning and were gone when we awoke. After we left Muskmelon Bay, Guana Island, I sailed the boat for approximately one hour to Lee Bay. There we finished our breakfast of cereal and oatmeal. We then gathered our snorkel gear and got in the dinghies to go turtling manta-tow style. That is when students jump in the water wearing snorkel gear, hold on to a line, and get dragged by a dinghy. It is super fun, and we like to refer to it as power snorkeling. Unfortunately, we hadn’t seen any within an hour, so we all boarded Ewak. We laid in the sun for an hour before motoring to Monkey Point. There, we again attempted to find a turtle but had no such luck. Alden and I (Lydia) stayed in the water for over an hour. We saw many stingrays, sharks, jellyfish, and other fish which were bigger than us! After all of our aquatic excitement, we motored to a sandy beach on Tortola for a BBQ. We enjoyed burgers and hotdogs with all the other ActionQuest students. We ended the night by stargazing on the roof and briefing about our service for tomorrow through VISAR. We are now all headed to bed; hence, we will start motoring at 5:00 am tomorrow morning. Sending love to my family in Vermont:)
