Welcome to the 2013 Thailand blogs! Below is a little bit about the staff that will be leading this summer. Enjoy!
Hilary is a native Oregonian, a Cultural Anthropology Ph.D. candidate, and instructor at Emory University. When she’s not in Atlanta, she can often be found in Oaxaca, Mexico, where she works and studies with small-scale corn and coffee farmers. Hilary has worked with Lifeworks since 2004, running programs in the BVIs, Costa Rica and Peru. She is passionate about engaging young people in experiences that get them to connect their energy into creating positive change and asking critical questions about the world around them.
Jessica discovered at an early age that she wanted her future to involve the outdoors. Growing up in Canada, she spent her summers on canoe trips, the longest being 50 days. She has had the opportunity to backpack through New Zealand, spent time hiking the Himalaya Mountains in India, and sailed around South East Asia. Jessica has been combining her love of the outdoors and her passion for traveling by pursuing studies within the outdoor leadership field. She is currently a student at Carleton University and is counting down the days until the summer!
Daniel is a medical student, psychology researcher, and Zen meditation enthusiast in New Orleans, Louisiana. His most recent adventures abroad took him through Tuscany, Italy where he worked on several family-run organic farms. As a med student, he devotes much of his free time to tutoring local youth after school. Since his college days, Daniel has indulged a passion for spontaneous hip hop freestyles and has also amassed an impressive joke collection from his friends and fellow travelers (ask him why Merlin is a hipster).
