Location: Sidney's, Jost van Dyke
This morning we woke up at Cane Garden Bay. We cooked breakfast burritos and baked blueberry muffins underway to Diamond Cay where we had plans to do some research with some local kids. We arrived at Diamond Cay, cleaned up breakfast and hopped in the dinghy with our seagrass research gear. We met the kids at the beach and taught them the process of using the transect and a quadrat to inspect seagrass in the different areas of the BVI. The process went by quicker than it has in the past because we have all gotten the hang of how to get it done efficiently and promptly. After, one of the staff on the other boat showed us some of the creatures he found while we were collecting research. At around 1 o’clock, we went back to the boats with the local kids and ate PB and Js or chicken salad sandwich wraps. We quickly finished lunch and got in the dinghies to look for turtles to tag. We saw two turtles but were unable to catch them because of how fast they were. After turtle tagging, we showered and are now getting ready for a BBQ at Sydney’s! I love and miss you, mom and dad, see you soon!!!
Signing off,
this has been Josie.
