Location: Lake Myvatn

This morning, we woke up PUMPED as we were all excited to see some whales in Husavik; after a short bus ride and a quick look in the shops, we made our way to the boat. With luck already on our side with the clear weather, we were amazed at not only one whale but THREE as well as five white-beaked dolphins! Kyle, Nick, and I were able to get some amazing photos of the whales as they came up to the surface multiple times to eat fish and jellyfish. Seeing the cute puffins and dolphins was a great bonus to the trip as well, which Rai, Olivia, and Maren appreciated the most.

After the whale watching we headed back to the bus and made our way to the hot springs, we were fascinated by how these pools are heated naturally, it was like we were taking a bath. Luke, Grisha, Roman, and Kai really enjoyed the steam room after their cold showers. The smell of the sulfur was strong, however when we showered off after I found that my skin felt so smooth so I think it was worth it. We then got to enjoy a dinner in the hot springs cafe, Josalyn and Leora found that they really like rye bread with smoked trout. I had a ham sandwich, crisps, and a doughnut, so I was very satisfied. Overall another very enjoyable day.

I send my love to my family. I can’t wait to see all of you soon xx
