Location: The Andes
Today was the first of many wonderful days in the Andes. We split into two groups, one who did service work in a neighboring town. This group worked with locals in harvesting in Quinoa fields, while others helped till the soil on a potato field. We were also invited into the home of the local community leader, a woman who runs the school and other facilities in the town. The other group rode horses through the mountains to the cloud forest. On their journey, they cantered past amazing views which included the cloud forest and were also able to observe where the local tea and herbs are grown. When the groups returned to the EcoLodge, we were able to purchase Alpaca sweaters- something which we were all eager to purchase. We enjoyed our first vegetarian meal at the lodge and are looking forward to our upcoming days in the beautiful mountains.
