Not in the USA for the 4th of July? Fear not, Costa Rica celebrates Americas birthday with as much gusto as the USA, but with a Tico flare. The bells of liberty and freedom could be heard from the school in San Miguel where we finally completed our classroom, to El Rancho, where we feasted on Tico-style American food, all the way to the city center, where we were blown away by the mesmerizing fireworks show. We kept our American flags waving high all day and made sure to let the Costa Ricans know that the Americans (and a few others) were here and ready to celebrate.  We donned red, white and blue ensembles and sang the National Anthem to show our pride. To prove our fierce dedication to the land of the free and the home of the brave, we held competitions to see who was the most patriotic and therefore the most American. Without a doubt, Rob was the clear winner. He broke out his jorts (jean shorts), American flag tank top and the most germane component of all, his unwavering love to the land he calls home. Overall, the 4th of July rivaled any celebration we could have had in the USA and was made even better by the fact that we got to spend it surrounded by our Lifeworks family.
