Location: Golden Circle
Today started off early, with us waking up at 6:50. We hopped on the adventure bus, and I had a lovely nap, and then we arrived at the dressing area for snorkeling. We all wore a layer of thermals, and they gave us a fleece-lined jumpsuit to put on before the dry suit. They did not have our exact sizes, and I was put in an XXL long dry suit that made me feel like a Teletubby, and Ava and Zora had to squeeze into a child’s extra small. We got all suited up with our head caps and gloves and walked over to the entrance of the fissure. I worked up a sweat walking over in the dry suit, so once we got in the water, I felt very refreshed, aside from my lips, which became numb. The fissure was beautiful and so clear, and my XXL created a nice air bubble that allowed me to float very easily. Others were not so lucky. Leigh and Thea had rips in their dry suit, so water got in, and they were very cold. Luckily, the swim was only 30 minutes, and we got hot chocolate and cookies after and changed into dry clothes, so it was nice and toasty. After swimming, we ate our sandwich wraps and went back on the bus to drive through the Golden Circle. The first stop was a beautiful waterfall with two very different viewpoints, so that was very cool to see. We then went to the geyser, which, although it smelled like eggs, erupted 3 or 4 times while we were there, which was cool. Then we got back to our hostel and had tomato soup and garlic bread, and Kimmi and Robbie surprised us with some KFC for after, as well as a slice of chocolate cake. We then started writing nice things about each of the group members and will probably end the day with a nice bounce on the jump pillow.
