Location: Muskmelon Bay, Guana Island

Hey!! It’s Hayes. Today, Addie, Augusta, and I woke up to Addison and Prentice making breakfast, which was pancakes with Nutella and peanut butter on the side, and it was delicious. After breakfast, our counselors had to go to a meeting, so we all got ready for the day and brought the tools to the stern. After all of our jobs were done, we sat on the deck and listened to Riley’s playlist (The favorite song was Shark Reggae); I stood behind the wheel because that’s where you can skip songs and because I was also in charge of the VHF, I felt very official. Once they got back from the meeting, we all loaded onto the dingy with the tools to head to shore, where we met up with the Quest boat to go work on the only organic farm on the Island. The drive up was very pretty and only a tad bit scary, but we made it safely to the farm, and we even saw flamingos from afar on the way up. We jumped into groups and began weeding around pepper plants and some others were mulching, and after two hours of that, we had lunch around one. During lunch, I talked to some of the Quest kids and met two who live practically across the street from me, which I thought was very cool. Augusta broke out the rice cakes that she had been saving, and it was very exciting. After lunch, we made an assembly line to pass rocks from one wall to another wall and then, after that, an assembly line to pass mud. Then, we were done with service for the day, so we took a taxi back to the dinghy. On the ride back, Prentice and some of the Quest kids tested their luck and tried some Carolina reapers and ghost peppers, which are very spicy peppers. While we were gone, the boat’s engine was fixed, but unfortunately, there were still a couple of things that weren’t in great shape Luckily for us, Riley is the best and fixed everything. Some of us jumped in the water quickly before we sailed to our new location of the night. Dinner began being made while underway so it was ready quickly after we arrived, tonight we had chili with rice and lots of hot sauce. We all showered before cleaning up because we were scared to get into the water after the sun set, and after that, we all just relaxed. That was our day. Thanks for reading! -Hayes
