Location: Posada de Belen

Today a few students woke up early to go on a run before our 8:30 bus departure. To start our day, our group went on a nice tour with an employee of Posada de Belen to better understand the lives of the teen mothers there. Next, the group split into four different groups. Our jobs were to complete tasks like painting, sorting the storage facility, disinfecting baby beds, and hanging mirrors and curtains in the girls’ rooms.  The painting group faced strong challenges like paint stains on our clothing and skin, but they helped to complete the prep work for a new roof structure. While they were working, another group re-sorted goods like diapers and toiletries on the new shelves that we built. We had a delicious lunch which consisted of hamburgers and wraps and ended with a stellar tres leches dessert. After a long day of community service, the group went for a well-deserved dip in the pool. To end the night we had a great dinner and some free time to play cards and bond with fellow students.
