Today was eventful. First, we gorged ourselves on Nutella pancakes; then I partially fell into the ocean while climbing into the dingy. After that, we piled into a taxi and went to the Old Fisherman’s Wharf. There, we saw a massive pile of conch shells surrounded by mangrove trees. I was part of the first group that went out to catch sea turtles. After about an hour and a half, one of the other catchers saw a tiny sea turtle. He then jumped onto it, since sea turtles are insanely fast. We brought it back, measured it, and laid it on a cushion. Never in my life would I think I would hear the phrase “Hey, go water the turtle,” but that’s what we did. After lunch, we had caught a total of six turtles, tagged them, and released them. When we got back to the ocean, Neil and Trevor proceeded to make the hottest corn I’ve ever had the “pleasure” of eating. Finally, as I’m writing this, Trevor is baking a cake, asking if we want hot sauce in it. Pretty good day.
