Today was the first day we got to sleep in on the boat. Gwen made us pancakes for breakfast, and they were sooo good! Right after clean-up, the Rebuilding Island Life students headed back to the school in a dinghy to continue working on our playgrounds. It was a lot of hard work, but we made a ton of progress, and it was so rewarding to see the kids having a blast on the swings — the principal at the school grilled burgers for us which was super nice. While we were at the school, the Preserving Paradise students went on a short hike and learned all about plastics. After lunch, we headed back to the boats and learned about catching and tagging turtles. We then got our snorkel gear and headed out for about an hour searching for the turtles. Unfortunately, no one was able to catch one, but we learned that “no data” is still good data. All three of the boats were rafted together, so we were able to eat dinner on the other boats and talk to the other students. It was a really fun day, and I can’t wait until tomorrow when the group of Rebuilding students will be able to finally finish our monkey bars.
