Location: Pacuare River
Today we woke up before the break of dawn and zombie walked to our central pick-up location in San Jose. There, the bus from Rio Tropicales picked us up at around 5:23 am, so the bus was a little bit late. On the ride, we stopped several times to pick up fellow rafters. While some slept and others talked, the bus made its way through the iconic natural world of Costa Rica. When we arrived, we were served a tasty Costa Rican breakfast. We then took another bus ride upstream to the start of our white water rafting excursion. We all got our life jackets, helmets, and oars and split into our teams. The journey began.
On this day we only went through Class 1 and Class 2 rapids; however, they were quite fun. Luckily, only a few people fell from their boats, but they were all rescued safely. Along the way, we stopped at a waterfall/swim hole which was quite fun. When we finally arrived at the lodge, we unpacked our belongings and had a different lunch for Costa Rica. This included sandwiches which were quite delicious. After lunch, our group began our travels towards two different magical waterfalls. After the first waterfall, the females of the group headed back to the lodge to sneakily perform a prank on the guys. This prank included hanging our clothes all over the rafters in the lodge as well as hiding our bags. The prank was quite amazing, and the guys swore that they would get their revenge. After the prank, everyone went to chill. This varied from hammocking to staying in our rooms. When the time came, all of the members of the group frolicked toward the dining hall. We were served a savory meal by the guides of the rafting tour. Our group was very helpful in cleaning the dishes. After dinner, the group had a pow-wow session. This included talking about anything from love to adventure. We had the opportunity to learn about each other as well as to grow and mature as individuals and as a group. After finishing our conversation, the group went back to the room to relax and reflect on a full day of laughter, great meals, and a funny prank.
