Location: Sidney's, Jost van Dyke
This morning the Portlandia crew slept late and waved goodbye to our friends on Action Quest who went on a hike. We ate breakfast underway to Great Harbor, Jost Van Dyke. Jost Van Dyke is the third most populated island in the BVI and home to Foxy Callwood. Foxy is a powerful figure and an activist for preserving the island’s ecosystem and customs, working closely with youth. Portlandia and Beez Chaser worked with Justine, Foxy’s daughter, in the garden behind the restaurant, clearing terraces. We worked together moving rocks, building a barrier, weeding the yard. After an extended lunch break at Foxy’s restaurant, the group did a beach clean up counting every piece of garbage collected from both land and sea. Our crew picked up a total of four bags and tallied the different kinds of trash for a survey. After a quick goodbye, we motored over to Sydney’s Peace and Love for a BBQ. Elliot blessed us with freshwater showers down below before we met up with everyone from AQ. Our crew is exhausted, and we had a few fall asleep at the BBQ — Goodnight from the BVI.
