Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound
It was a rushed breakfast of cereal and cantaloupe that started off our day, as we had to get back to the island of Virgin Gorda to continue our work at one of the local schools. After a short dingy and taxi ride to the school, the boat split up into a few different groups to help complete some tasks in the garden. Like Hayes, Violet, Grace, and Addy, who helped rebuild the tortoise’s pond; Gigi, who helped Riley in rebuilding the shed; and Addison, who helped fix up the garden’s irrigation system. The team had some lunch and finished up a few tasks, then packed up and headed back to the boat at 2:30. We all took a swim in the ocean before we had to sail all the way to Prickly Pear Island, which is roughly an hour and a half sail ride. Two brave soldiers, Addy and Grace, took up the task of cooking while we were en route, which is not easy when the boat is slanted upwards. Prentice even fell right off and slightly messed up the table while we were sailing because the slant was too much for him, though, in his defense, it was already a little broken. When we finally anchored in, we settled in for a dinner of veggie burgers and started our evening activity. Tonight, we had a group discussion about acts of kindness, how to be a good role model for others, and the plan for the next day. It was a very hot day, but it was an honor to help the Virgin Gorda community, and we can’t wait to go back Tuesday. Bye bye!
